Privacy policy
Effective 22 October 2026. This policy explains how the Dawa2 Android app (package dev.amrcs92.medicinemanagement) handles your information.
In short
- Dawa2 has no account, no servers, no cloud sync, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking.
- Your medicines, schedules, dose history and settings are stored only on your phone.
- Data leaves your phone only when you export or back it up yourself, and only to the place you send it. The developer never receives it.
Information stored on your phone
The app stores the medicines you add (names, forms, strengths, doses and notes), their schedules, and the history of what you recorded as taken, snoozed or skipped, together with your app settings. This information is kept in a database in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read on a normal (non-rooted) phone. It is protected by Android's device encryption and is not encrypted further by the app.
Android's automatic backup is turned off for Dawa2, so this data is not copied to Google Drive or a computer. Uninstalling the app deletes it permanently.
Network
Dawa2's own code makes no network requests. The APK lists the INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions because the React Native and Expo framework it is built on declares them; no Dawa2 feature uses them.
Permissions
- Notifications: to show the ringing alarm and its actions.
- Exact alarms: to ring at the exact minute of each dose.
- Full-screen alarm: to show the alarm over the lock screen.
- Foreground service (media playback): to keep the alarm sound playing until you answer.
- Display over other apps (optional, you grant it): to open the alarm while you use another app.
- Run at startup: to re-arm alarms after a restart or a time-zone change.
- Wake lock and vibration: to wake the phone and vibrate while ringing.
- Battery: unrestricted (optional; you confirm it in Android’s own dialog): so battery savers do not delay alarms.
None of these permissions is used to collect information about you.
Exports and backups
A CSV history export or a JSON backup is created only when you tap Export or Back up, and goes only where you send it through Android's share sheet. These are plain, unencrypted files that contain your medication data, so keep them somewhere safe. When you restore a backup, the app checks that it came from Dawa2 before changing anything.
On the lock screen
The alarm screen and its notification show the medicine name and dose so you know what to take. The notification is marked private, so when your phone hides sensitive content on the lock screen, the notification list shows only “Medication due”. The full-screen alarm itself appears over the lock screen by design.
Speak the title
If you turn on Speak the title (it starts off), the alarm reads the medicine name and dose aloud using your phone's own text-to-speech engine. Dawa2 sends nothing anywhere; whether that engine uses the internet is set in its own settings (Google's voices work offline once downloaded).
Health information
Dawa2 is a reminder and record-keeping tool. It does not give medical advice and never suggests or changes doses; it records only what you enter.
Children
Dawa2 is not directed at children under 13 and does not collect information from anyone.
Changes and contact
